Learning awards

The Adult Learners' Week Awards recognise adults with remarkable learning journeys.

Nominating learners for an Adult Learners' Week Award celebrates their achievements and promotes the positive effects of learning on people's health, skills and confidence. Individuals, families, groups and projects can be nominated for an Adult Learners' Week Award, and for 2010, there are also some special Award categories:

  • the Foundation Degree Award (sponsored by FDF) recognises an outstanding adult learner on an FDF programme;
  • the NOCN Outstanding Achievement Award (sponsored by the National Open College Network) will recognise outstanding learning on an OCN programme; and
  • the Power of Reading Award (sponsored by Booktrust) celebrates learning where reading or writing has inspired an outstanding learning journey;
  • the European Social Fund (ESF) Awards will celebrate individuals, groups and projects that have learnt with support from the ESF
  • the Digital Participation Award (sponsored by the BBC) celebrates learning where the use of new technology has been central; and
  • the Intergenerational Award (sponsored by the MLA) rewards learning across generations in the Museums, Libraries and Archives sector.

The Awards often generate media interest in winners' stories which in turn can raise the profile of supporting colleges and learning organisations. It has never been easier to nominate someone for their remarkable learning journey.
