The East of England Regional Awards Ceremony 2009 was a resounding success. The ceremony took place on Tuesday 12 May and was held at the wonderful and new Air Space Conference Centre at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, Cambridgeshire. Guests got free access to the museum for the remainder of the day – an inherent learning experience that many took-up, enjoyed and appreciated.
175 Award Winners and guests attended the Awards Ceremony which was hosted by CP Learning Trust and chaired by the Regional Coordinator. An emotional key note speech was given on the many benefits of adult learning by Steph Luke, Regional Skills Development Director for the LSC.
Last year’s Outstanding Learner Award Winner, Kelly Bath, gave an interesting and very confident presentation on ‘What it’s like to win an ALW Award’ – she outlined all the learning she has done, what qualifications she has achieved and how her life has changed over the past year since winning the Award – she was superb.
20 Awards, including those for the photography competition, were presented by the BBC TV Look East Presenter, Susie Fowler-Watt, who congratulated each winner.
