Over 1000 people took part in events across Cheshire and Warrington during Adult Learners’ Week.

Over 1000 people took part in events across Cheshire and Warrington during Adult Learners’ Week.
Here are some of the highlights:
- A wide range of events engaged people in taster activities, including family history, head massage, bollywood dance, flower arranging, first aid and creative writing in libraries throughout the county.
- Priestley College held “Give it a go parties!” throughout the week. These one hour taster sessions were offered in local community venues and 85% of participants requested a prospectus following the events.
- One of the most well attended events was the family fun day at the Arches School in Blacon, where family fitness sessions and sports were amongst the popular activities.
- Warrington Collegiate offered an Adult Learners’ Week Extravaganza including a craft fayre, live entertainment and a range of taster sessions encouraging participants to sign up for free courses that ranged from rewiring a socket to candle making. They also ran activities at Birchwood Shopping Mall, Golden Square, the Cockhedge Centre and St. Margaret’s Community Centre
- Warrington Borough Council in partnership with NHS Primary Care Trust, held events as part of Learning at Work Day. Over 100 employees (including the Council’s leader and Chief Executive) took part in activities.
- Warrington Disability Partnership ran a stall within Golden Square to advertise and promote their work and cultural diversity was a strong theme during the day.
- Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership held women’s self defence, Maths and English, Dancercise and Food Hygiene in Hyde.
- Whilst other activities included art workshops delivered at sheltered housing facilities, celebration events to recognise the achievements of Adult Learners’ Week nominees, and guided tours and history talks about Warrington and Winwick.
