The evening ceremony was held at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking and hosted by Charlotte Hawkins, a presenter of Sky News Sunrise. Over eighty prize-winners, family and friends, as well as local supporters of Adult Learners’ Week attended to share in the celebration of adult education in the South East.

Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership (Surrey LLP) coordinated Adult Learners’ Week 2010 in the South East region, and received support from the South East England Development Agency. Surrey LLP and Southampton Solent University also sponsored Adult Learners’ Week Awards in the region, recognising adults’ commitment to learning.

The ceremony closed with music from the band, ‘Said and Done’. This was their second gig after meeting as adult learners who decided to form a band. The band, none of whom had met before joining the course, spoke of how attending their music lessons had changed their lives.
