East of England congratulates adult learners from the region

The East of England celebrated the achievements of its 2010 Adult Learners’ Week nominees and winners at a regional awards ceremony on Wednesday 19th May at Duxford Imperial War Museum.

175 guests attended the ceremony, which was hosted by CP Learning Trust and presented by BBC Look East presenter, Susie Fowler-Watt. A key note speech was also given by Liz Johnson from the MLA on the importance of lifelong learning.
There were a series of regional awards and activities in the East of England which were sponsored by local organisations in specialist categories:
- East of England Skills and Competitiveness Partnership – Support of an Individual Regional Award;
- WEA – Regional ‘Learning for Wellbeing’ Award;
- The Regional Maths Centre – Regional Maths Centre Award; and
- CP Learning Trust – Sponsorship of the Adult Learners’ Week photography competition.
The Adult Learners’ Week photography competition took place in the East of England for the second year. The shortlisted entries were exhibited at the ceremony and the overall winner, Emily Haggerty, was presented with a £200 digital camera for her winning image on the theme of ‘Adults Learning’. After the ceremony, attendees also enjoyed access to the museum for the rest of the day.
