Introduction

You are about to start an online nomination for the Adult Learners' Week Individual Learner Awards 2014. To ensure that you are clear about the process, please read the instructions below:

  • Before beginning to complete the nomination form, read the Guidance Notes and Eligibility Criteria.
  • The nominator will be asked to complete Parts 1, 2, 3 and 5, and the nominee will be asked to complete Parts 4 and 5.
  • The nominator's sections must be completed first. Once the nominator's sections are submitted, an e-mail will be sent to the nominee (to the e-mail address provided in Part 1). In the email the nominee will receive a unique link for them to access their sections of the form and a copy of the nominator's statement. If the nominee does not receive a link via email within 2 hours please contact the Adult Learners' Week Team.
  • If for any reason, the nominee is unable to complete their section, they can consult with someone else who can complete it on their behalf.
  • If you are unable to complete the form in one go, the "Save & Continue" button will allow you to come back to the form at a later time, please ensure that you save your work regularly as you complete each section. (Please note that 'Save & Continue' will only work once a section is complete.)
  • When you click on the "Save & Continue" button for the first time, an email will be sent to you with a link to your nomination. Please keep this email safe so you can access your nomination at any time. If you do not receive a link to the nomination form within 2 hours please contact the Adult Learners' Week Team.
  • Only the information contained in the form can be used when considering the nomination. Please do not send any additional support information/materials.
  • Make sure that all sections are complete and information is accurate before you submit the form. Once the nomination has been submitted, no further changes can be made.
  • Nominations can only be considered if both yours and your nominee's sections are submitted by 5pm on Thursday 30 January 2014.

  • In your statement, please:

    • List the learning they have done, the progress they have made and any results achieved.
    • Describe what is transformational about their learning journey and what has changed as a result.
    • Explain how their learning has had a positive impact on their life and the lives of others. This could be at work, home or in their community.

    Maximum of 5000 characters, including spaces (approximately 800 words). Please do not use bullet points.

  • Please note that the Adult Learners' Week Awards recognise all forms of learning. The nominee doesn't need to have gained a qualification.
Part 2: Award Categories

Your nomination may be eligible for a range of award categories. In order to be considered, please read the category descriptions below and select categories for your nomination.



In addition, your nominee may also be eligible for the following awards:

  • Young Adult Learner of the Year Award, supported by the Edge Foundation: for individuals aged 18-25 on 30 January 2014.
  • Senior Learner of the Year Award for individuals who would like to be considered for this award

The Nominee will have the opportunity to enter for these awards in part 4.




European Social Fund Awards

If your nominee's learning has been funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) please complete this section to be considered for these categories. If you are unsure about eligibility please look at the list of ESF projects on the ESF Website and confirm with your (ESF) project manager

  • ESF Individual Learner Award: recognises the impact that ESF-funded learning opportunities have had on individual learning achievements.
  • ESF Young Adult Learner of the Year Award: recognises the impact that ESF-funded learning opportunities have had on the learning achievement of young adults (aged 18-25 on 30 January 2014).

Part 4: Nominee's Journey

This part is completed by the nominee. After the nominator completes Part 5 (Declaration), and submits the form, an automated email will be sent to the nominee, using the email address provided in Part 1A, with a unique link to the nominee's section of the form. The nominee must complete this information by 5pm Thursday 30 January 2014.

The nominator will receive a final confirmation email once the nominee has completed these sections.
