Jordan was unemployed, getting into trouble and had no focus. But following an Apprenticeship with the Fifteen restaurant in Cornwall he is on his way to becoming a professional chef.

Impressing the chefs with his eagerness to learn and his ability to soak up information, Jordan has worked in food production and learnt to run every section of a professional kitchen.

He completed his Apprenticeship through Cornwall Food Foundation – which receives support from the European Social Fund (ESF) and Cornwall College, gaining a VRQ Level 1 in Professional Cookery, a Health and Hygiene certificate, alongside Level 2 Maths and English.

Jordan also had a placement at Fifteen Amsterdam, spoke at a major-international ESF conference about how his Apprenticeship has been a life changing experience and is about to start a job in a restaurant in St Ives, Cornwall. .

Programme Manager, Lyndsey Marshall, said, “Jordan has gone from strength to strength and continually challenges himself. He is eager to learn more and strives to be the best he can at all times. We are extremely proud of what Jordan has achieved as an individual and as a chef. We have no doubt he will continue to learn and develop in the years to come.”

Jordan said, “I’m a very hands-on person, I didn’t do too well at school so wanted to do something practical. I’ve always been interested in food and wanted to turn my life around – the Fifteen Cornwall Apprenticeship seemed perfect. When I have got more experience I hope to use my new profession to be able to travel and work around the world.”
