Practice Plan Ltd
A group of 22 staff from private dental support firm, Practice Plan Ltd, have worked together to achieve a range of qualifications from customer care to management, and improved their career prospects as a result.
This large group of mainly administrative staff have completed at least a Level 2 qualification in the last two years. The group’s learning has been as a result of an innovative partnership between Practice Plan Ltd and County Training, part of Shropshire Council, co-financed by ESF.
County Training is the largest training provider in Shropshire, with eight bases across the county, and is a major provider of work-based training for school leavers and for adults, either returning to work or retraining for the job market.
Several members of the group have progressed onto further courses, such as Team Leading, Business Administration and Management. Four candidates have also gained key skills qualifications at Level 2, and another three are working towards key skills as Adult Apprentices.
One of the successful learners is Janet Edwards, who has since achieved a Maths qualification and NVQ, helping her to gain a promotion to Personnel Manager. Janet embraced the opportunity to go to college. “It was great to brush up on skills. You grow as a person and feel better for it”, she said.
Janet describes how learning together, with the support of Practice Plan Ltd, has improved “motivation to achieve in the workplace, confidence, team morale and a committed workforce. The likelihood of progression has increased and the working methods are more streamlined… Families have been inspired and there has been a ‘knock on’ effect for children and partners.”
